VOLUME No. 3,
Contains Illustrations, Descriptions, and Prices of General Hardware kept in stock and for sale at
our Warehouses in New York and Philadelphia.
INCE we issued our Catalogue of Real Bronze Builders’ Hardware in 1870, we have steadily increased the variety of patterns and styles of finish of the goods in this branch of our manufacture.
We call attention to the fact, that in this increase of variety we have preserved an artistic order of design, and produced novelties in the style of finish that has stamped the goods as characteristic and peculiarly our own, and that the public have recognized and conceded these merits, by generally adopting them as the standard for comparison, compe- tition, and IMITATION.

MORTISE
To be used on
DOOR BOLTS,
Double or Folding Doors.
These Bolts afford a complete and secure fastening for double doors, the Bolt Front acting as the strike for the Key Lock.
The Door Bolt is mortised into the face of the door in the same manner as a Mortise Lock, the Rods being sunk into the edge of the door and then covered, thus making a good finish. The mechanism of the Bolt Lock is such that, upon turning the Knob, both Bolts are thrown, fastening the door top and bottom.
When the Bolts are withdrawn (and the door unfastened) the same movement throws out the square Bolt in the face of the Bolt Lock, which thus acts as an effectual guard to prevent the closing of the other door (in which is the Key Lock) before the Bolt Door is fastened.
The head of the Bolt on the Bottom Rod is operated by a self-acting spring (see plate), which secures its entrance into the striking-plate, and overcomes any trouble which may arise from the shrinkage or warping of the door.
When ordering these Bolts, it is necessary, in all cases, to give the exact height of door, and the distance from the center of the Knob to the floor.

REAL BRONZE ELUSII BOLTS.
(PATENT APPLIED FOR.)
For Folding Doors, etc.
These Bolts are made in the very best manner — extra heavy and strong, and are intended for heavy doors.
There are two kinds of Bolts, viz : TOP BOLTS No. 30, and BOTTOM BOLTS No. 31. Those called Top Bolts No. 30 are to be used only at the top of the door, or in positions where the Bolt requires to be pushed up; and those called Bottom Bolts No. 31 are for use at the bottom of the door only, or where the Bolt requires to be pushed down to make the fastening.
The mechanism of the Top Bolt is such that after being bolted, there is no possibility of its being unfastened by the shutting and jarring of the other door ; while the Bottom Bolt is so arranged that it cannot drop and catch on the carpet or sill when the door is unbolted and opened.
These Bolts should, in all cases, be used in pairs ; that is, every pair of Bolts for a door should have one Top Bolt, No. 30 (whatever length may be required,) and one Bottom Bolt, No. 31, and should be so ordered.

LATCH FLUSH BOLTS.
For French Windows, Etc.
These Fastenings are made for heavy French Windows or Doors, and should be used in pairs.
The Latch Flush Bolt (No. 2) is for use at the top of the door only.
It is self-acting, and, upon closing the door or window, fastens itself.
It can be operated by the hand, when of easy access ; otherwise a cord or ringed rod may be used to reach the Hook or Thumb-piece, which is made very strong to admit of its use as a pull to open the door or window.
The Flush Bolt (No. 12) is for bolting the bottom of the door or window, and is intended for use with the Latch Flush Bolt (No. 2).
It is not self-fastening, but must be worked by the hand. Its mechanism is the same as the Bottom Bolt described on page 441, which prevents the Bolt from dropping down and catching on the carpet, or striking the sill when the door is unbolted.
